One-Piece or Two-Piece Design
Many people who have traveled to Japan speak of the convenience and efficiency of the Toto toilets they have used when they are there. Toto is a Japanese toilet brand that is a one-piece design that integrates the tank and bowl. These toilets are simple to clean and can be placed into small spaces. Toto was formed in the early 70s by members who had done session work for some of the most famous musicians. Keyboardist David Paich and drummers Steve Lukather and Jeff Porcaro as well as bassist Joseph Williams were all regular contributors to albums of Steely Dan [73], Seals and Crofts[74], Boz Scaggs[75], and Sonny and Cher.
Some of the band members have released solo albums as well. In 1978, Bobby Kimball released an album titled From the Inside. Steve Lukather released a second album titled Luke. David Paich and Joe Porcaro also recorded an album with jazz pianist Miles Davis.
In addition to their music, Toto has done a great deal of touring over the years. In February of 2018, they released their 40 Trips Around The Sun anniversary album and began an international tour to promote it.

Before beginning to form Toto members, such as bassist David Hungate and drummer Jeff Porcaro performed on albums by famous artists such as Steely Dan Seals and Crofts Boz Scaggs and Sonny and Cher. David Paich, the keyboardist, was a regular session musician for artists such as the Eagles, Larry Carlton and Quincy Jones.
In the years following Toto's debut album, the band struggled to find success and went through a string of member changes. Hungate eventually quit the group to pursue a career as a solo artist in Nashville in 1980. His decision was prompted by an inability to spend time with his family and a rising drug addiction. The band's success was contingent on Lukather and Steve Porcaro.

Keyboardist David Paich, guitarist Steve Lukather, bassist David Hungate and drummer Jeff Porcaro were regular contributors to albums of Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Boz Scaggs, and Sonny and Cher. In 1980, they joined forces with singer/songwriter Joseph Williams to form Toto.
The band began touring extensively following the release of Toto IV. In 1985 the vocalist Fergie Frederiksen was dismissed because she was said to have a difficult time meshing with the rest of the group. Toto released Fahrenheit in 1986, the year that followed the recording of Fahrenheit.
The album was an artistic departure for the band, incorporating elements of gospel and jazz. It wasn't a commercial success in North America, but did well in Japan. In 1987, Toto played the Montreux Jazz Festival and continued to tour. At this point the bassist David Hungate left the band to focus on his session and production career. He was replaced by vocalist/guitarist Steve Lukather.
